United States Medical Licensing Exam!īelow are our top tips and tricks for a stellar USMLE Step 3 exam day. This exam is terrible and I was definitely very nervous checking my score. Only used the uworld cases and felt confident with the exam software. All I needed was uworld and repetition with flash cards. All I was hoping for was a pass so I was very happy. So even with my failing practice test scores, I decided to take the exam and scored a 218. Don’t know if I just got lucky with the selection of cases, but I’ll take it. The ones I messed up on, I used the full time and was able to redeem myself by making the patient better. I think Uworld prepares you well if you follow their breakdown of when to order things. The cases were straightforward on my exam. This day felt like nbme 5 in terms of MCQ questions. It was still hard, but nowhere near the level of day 1. A lot of questions were straight from my flashcards (UW). Walked out of the exam feeling like I bombed it so bad that there was no point in showing up for day 2.ĭay 2 (taken 3 days after day 1, which I would recommend) felt much better, which tends to be the case for others. So I don’t even know why I felt like it was hard, but it was. Same guy that did the biostats vids did a YouTube video on drug ads that was helpful. A chunk of wtf step 1 type questions per block, but nothing I would stress about studying for. Lot of biostats, but the 2 YouTube videos that everyone talks about covers what you need to know. I took an educated guess on what felt like every question. I felt like I studied for a completely different exam. Whatever, I just wanted to get the exam over with.ĭay 1 of the exam was a shock. Decided to take NBME 5 four days prior to my exam and scored 290 (mean was like 500?) so, again, I was freaking out. I took UWSA1 one week prior to my real exam and scored 190, so I was freaking out. I started the uworld cases about 1 week before test day and that was more than enough time to get through the interactive cases and quickly skim the practice cases. I got through about 70% of the qbank (skipped ethics, biostats, and psych) and averaged 60%. I did these flashcards over and over again when I had down time at work. I went through one section at a time and made a flashcard for every UW question. Studied for 4 weeks about 2 hours per night after work by doing uworld questions timed. ![]()
